Flexibility

One of the best parts of homeschooling is the flexibility it allows "C". As an autistic child, when "C" has an idea or wants to do something, trying to get him to do something else is like trying to derail a train. He is passionate and powerfully motivated. This drive often compels him to finish half of a handwriting book in one day or cruise through five chapters of math in one sitting. On this day, we completed all of our coursework, but when "C" wanted to draw a picture, spend time in the garden and get creative in the kitchen, we followed his passion and got it out of his system. He then welcomed moving on with our school day.
